Newborn sessions can book out several months in advance, so I recommend getting in touch during your pregnancy to ensure availability around your due date.

Before your newborn session, I'll send you a questionnaire so I can get to know your family, your style and what's most important to you.
You'll also receive my detailed preparation guide with everything you need to know, including what to wear, what to bring and what to expect on the day.
Closer to your session date, we'll have a final chat to confirm the details and discuss any special requests, as well as albums or wall art you may be considering for your home.

Enjoy Your Newborn Photography Session
From the moment you step into my studio, I want you to feel completely at ease. The warm, light-filled space is designed to feel calm and comfortable, so you can sit back and enjoy your baby's first photoshoot. Have a coffee, catch up on emails or even take a nap. Yes, it's happened before! Your newborn will be in experienced and caring hands throughout the session.
The studio also has a private space for you to change or touch up your makeup, along with toilet and shower facilities.
We'll capture beautiful photographs of your newborn as well as parents and siblings, creating natural, timeless images of this very special time in your family's life.

View & Choose your photographs
Within 2–4 weeks of your session, your beautifully edited photographs will be ready to view in your own private online gallery.
From there, you can choose your favourite images and select the collection that's right for your family. You'll also have the option to create beautiful albums or wall art to enjoy in your home.
Your private gallery includes a shop where you can explore additional products including prints, framed artwork, canvases, woodblocks and mini albums perfect for grandparents.
If you'd like help choosing artwork for your home, I'm also here to provide personalised advice and assist with designing the perfect wall collection for your space.

Receive your images & Artwork
Once your images, album or wall art are ready, I'll be in touch to arrange a convenient time for collection from my Malvern East studio.
There's something incredibly special about seeing your photographs in print and holding your finished album or artwork for the first time.
These are the photographs your family will look back on long after your baby is no longer quite so little.
Your chosen collection includes your digital images along with a beautiful album or prints, giving you something tangible to enjoy now and treasure for years to come.

FAQs
When should I book my newborn session?
I recommend booking your newborn session during your pregnancy, ideally after your 12-week scan. I only take a limited number of newborn sessions each month, so booking early gives you the best chance of securing availability around your due date.
Your session date doesn't need to be exact at this stage. We'll use your due date to reserve your place and confirm the final session date once your baby arrives. Enquire about availability.
What is the best age for newborn photos?
The ideal age for newborn photos is usually between 6–14 days old. During this time, babies tend to be sleepier and naturally curl into those beautiful newborn poses.
However, older newborns are absolutely welcome. Every baby is different, and beautiful newborn photographs can still be created after the first few weeks. Older babies may be more alert, which can also give us the opportunity to capture gorgeous expressions and eye contact.
Where are newborn sessions held?
Newborn sessions are held in my warm and welcoming Malvern East studio in Melbourne. The studio is designed especially fornewborn photography, providing a calm, comfortable environment for you and your baby.
Sessions are available Monday to Friday and typically begin in the morning, when babies are often most settled and we can make the most of the beautiful natural light.
How much does newborn photography cost?
Newborn photography with Niki Sprekos Photography has a total investment starting from $1,000. This includes the $250 session fee plus a collection starting from $750.

How long does a session last?
Newborn sessions typically last between 1.5 to 3 hours, allowing plenty of time for feeding, changing, cuddles and settling your baby whenever needed.
Every baby is different, so there is never any rush. We work at your baby's pace, creating a relaxed experience while capturing a beautiful variety of newborn and family photographs.
What if my baby doesn’t sleep during the session?
There's no need to worry if your baby doesn't sleep during their newborn session. Every baby is different, and beautiful photographs can be captured whether your baby is asleep or wide awake.
We'll take our time with feeding, cuddles and settling whenever needed, always following your baby's cues. Awake moments can also be incredibly special, giving us the opportunity to capture their little expressions and beautiful eye contact.
Are parents and siblings included?
Yes, absolutely. Parents and siblings are included in your newborn session at no additional cost. These photographs are just as important as the beautiful images of your baby on their own.
I'll guide you throughout the session, so you don't need to worry about posing or what to do. We'll create natural, timeless photographs that capture the connection between your new baby and your family.
What do we wear to our session?
I recommend keeping outfits simple, comfortable and neutral so the focus remains on your baby and the connection between your family. Soft, earthy and neutral tones photograph beautifully and create the timeless style you see throughout my work.
You'll receive a detailed preparation guide before your session with styling advice for the whole family. I also have a client wardrobe available for mums, with a beautiful selection of dresses you are welcome to wear during your session.
Do you have wraps & props?
Yes. My Malvern East studio is fully stocked with a beautiful collection of wraps, blankets, outfits, headbands and newborn props carefully selected to complement my natural and timeless style.
Everything needed to style your baby's photographs is provided, so you don't need to purchase or bring any special props with you. If you have a sentimental item you'd love included, you're also welcome to bring it along and we can discuss how best to incorporate it into your session.
Are you immunised against whooping cough?
Yes. I am fully immunised against whooping cough, and my vaccination is kept up to date.
Your baby's safety and wellbeing are always my highest priority. With over 14 years of experience photographing newborns, every session is carefully paced around your baby's individual needs, with safe and gentle handling throughout.
Do we get digital images?
Yes. All of my newborn collections include professionally edited high-resolution digital images, with the number of images depending on the collection you choose.
Your digital images are beautifully retouched and supplied ready for you to download, share and enjoy. Collections also include your choice of beautiful printed products, so you have something tangible to treasure alongside your digital photographs.
Do we get all the raw files from the session?
No. RAW or unedited files are not provided. Each photograph you receive is carefully selected and professionally edited to reflect the finished style you see throughout my portfolio.
Your chosen collection includes your final high-resolution digital images, beautifully retouched and ready to download, print and enjoy.
How do we book a session?
To book your newborn session, simply get in touch via my contact form. I recommend booking during your pregnancy to ensure availability around your due date.
Once you're ready to book, a $250 session fee and signed agreement are required to secure your place. We'll use your due date to reserve your booking and confirm the final session date once your baby arrives.
Client Wardrobe
Available for all sessions to help you feel beautiful and confident.
My client wardrobe includes a beautiful selection of dresses and outfits carefully chosen to photograph beautifully. Many pieces offer flexible sizing and can be adjusted to suit a range of body shapes and sizes.
When you arrive at the studio, you're welcome to try on different options and choose what you feel most comfortable and beautiful wearing.
The client wardrobe is available at no additional cost for all sessions.
