Sleep Schools and Support for New Parents in Melbourne

12/05/2025

A lot of people ask me if I can come to their home in the middle of the night to settle their newborn and become a sleep school.

I get it. I’m great at calming babies now as I have been a newborn photographer for over 12 years.

But truthfully, my own newborns were just as tricky.

I struggled.
I was sleep deprived.
I needed help.

Eventually, I ended up at a sleep school and it changed everything.

That particular centre isn’t around anymore, but I’ve put together some current options for you. Whether you want a sleep school, private consultant, or just a bit of guidance – there’s support out there.

Why You Might Seek Sleep Support?

  • You’re exhausted, and baby isn’t sleeping
  • Settling takes hours, and nothing works
  • Feeding feels overwhelming or inconsistent
  • You and your partner are not coping
  • Baby catnaps through the day and wakes constantly at night
  • You’re feeling anxious or unsure and just want expert reassurance
  • You’ve tried all the books and hacks and still no luck

Benefits of Sleep Support

  • You get a tailored plan, not just advice from Google
  • Practical strategies that actually work
  • Someone to reassure you and boost your confidence
  • Better sleep for everyone = happier days
  • You learn cues, patterns and routines that make life easier
  • Reduced stress, especially for first-time parents

Things to Consider (the not-so-perfect parts)

  • Some services have waitlists
  • Private options can be expensive
  • Not all approaches suit every baby or parent
  • You may need to try more than one option
  • Success depends on consistency (and a bit of patience)

Getting support doesn’t mean you’ve failed. It means you’re doing what’s best for your baby and for you.

I’ve been there. It’s hard. But help makes a difference.

Every family’s journey looks different. What matters is finding what works for yours.

Whether it’s a sleep school, a consultant, or just a few trusted tips. Help is out there, and it’s worth exploring.

You got this!
